flood warningAgencies from across Cumbria are issuing warnings and advice to people in Cumbria following severe weather alerts and flood warnings for this weekend.

It is anticipated that heavy rainfall is due to arrive in the county from mid-afternoon today (14 November) into tomorrow morning, and this will cause flooding across Cumbria.

AREAS OF CONCERN:

To ensure the safety of the residents that live in these areas, people living in the postcodes detailed below are being asked to consider self-evacuating to family and friends who live in non-flood risk areas.

Severe flood warning is in place, expected from midnight, however people are encouraged to find a place of safety during daylight hours and whilst the conditions are still favourable.

Please inform your family and friends where you are going, and that you are safe, to avoid concerned relatives contacting emergency services.

Police officers and multi-agency representatives will be in these areas this afternoon spreading the message.

If you are unable to re-locate to family and friends, reception centres will be opened later this afternoon where advice and shelter will be available, details are below.
