The Intensive Care Unit at Furness General Hospital are launching a new patient and carers support group to the Barrow area. The initiative is the result of listening and responding to patient, carers and the teams feedback.
Allyn Dow and Helen Steer, ICU Managers said;
“Our aim is to provide an opportunity for patients and their loved ones to share their experiences of ICU and beyond. This will promote well-being in a supported environment, making the journey to recovery better together.”
The Group will meet on the third Wednesday of each Month at Hawcoat Community Centre Barrow in Furness. The first meeting will be on February 21 and will run from 4.15pm – 6.15pm as a drop in session.
All patients, carers or visitors who have experienced Intensive Care at FGH are welcome. Come along and talk to others who have encountered similar challenges and successes, who perhaps remain on the journey to recovery or just chat and meet over a cup of tea or coffee.
Support will be provided by the ICU and Patient Experience team. For further information please contact:
